The German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schauble called Wednesday on "all European newspapers" to follow Denmark's example and publish the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cartoons in defense of freedom of the press.
Speaking to weekly magazine Die Zeit in German, Schauble said: "Actually, all European newspapers should now print these caricatures, with the explanation: We also find them lousy, but the use of press freedom is no reason to practice violence."
In mid-February, 17 Danish newspapers reprinted a caricature of Prophet Muhammed in retaliation for a foiled plot by extremists to murder the cartoonist, the newspapers stood in solidarity under the banner of freedom of expression.
The German minister said he supported the decision of the Danish press.
"I have respect for the fact that Danish newspapers have now all printed the Muhammad caricatures, on the basis: we will not let ourselves be divided," Schaeuble was quoted as saying by Die Zeit.
The cartoons were originally published in 2006, with one depicting the Prophet wearing a turban with a lit bomb fuse. They caused uproar among Muslims around the world, who saw the cartoons as offensive and derogatory to the Prophet.
Since the republication, Sudan has called for a boycott of Danish goods, Jordanian media have protested, thousands of Bahrainis have demonstrated, and other protests have been held in Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia and Gaza.
Danish PM defends newspapers
Meanwhile, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen defended the 17 Danish newspapers, insisting their aim was not to offend Muslims.
"It's important to explain that the media did not publish these drawings to hurt people's religious feelings, but because in a democratic regime with a free press, it's normal to be able to illustrate your story," Rasmussen told reporters.
Rasmussen said the current situation was "uncertain" following the protests, noting there were reports "that religious extremist circles were trying to exploit it" and that it was "difficult to predict" how the protests would evolve.
He added that Denmark had "learned from experience" from the 2006 crisis.
The government had set up "a very developed system to keep abreast of what is going on" to enable it to be "very proactive with governments in Muslim countries."

European Economic Weakness: Just a thought on the weak position of Europeans: Europe has virtually no oil and gas. Europeans are vulnerable to gas disruptions and blackmail from Russia, whose state owned company, Gazpron, supplies much of the natural gas essential to life in Europe.
America is trying to help Europe, and itself, in Iraq. About 25% of the known gas and oil in the world, is in Iraq. President Bush hopes to increase it's own supply by stabilizing that country. (although if that son of Allah, Obama, becomes President, that may change) Anyhow, there is a giant gas pipeline being built, that runs through Turkey, to supply oil and gas from Iraq, to Europe.
America is a power rival of Russia, who is trying to set up an oil and gas cartel, with Iran and other oil rich countries in the region, to challenge American influence over the control of oil and gas, which is supplied to Europe. Russia hopes to be a dominant player on the European continent, by controlling a natural resource vital to Europe's economy.
Now, the way America is trying to squeeze Russia, in this power game, is by making a comprimise with the Muslim world. America is doing this for practica reasons. Think about this: The only way to move natural cheaply, and quickly, from Iraq, to Europe, is through a pipeline. To accomplish this, and build a natural gas pipeline, there are only two routes to take, to get gas to Europe. One way is to go through the Caucasas Mountains, in countries dominated by Russia. The other way is to go through Turkey and Greece, which would geographically bypass Russia entirely.
America has chosen to build a pipeline through Turkey. The pipelin construction is being planned right now, and construction will start in about a year from now. Now this is a significant development, and it strengthens the hand of Turkey, a large Muslim country, who is trying to get full membership into the European Union. Naturally, this whole process requires a bit of America ass-kissing the Muslim world, in order to get on their good side, to get development started, due to the power of oil and gas. That's why, when Kosavo, a Muslim enclave in Europe, broke away from a Christian country of Serbia, America recognized the new country right away. It was a diplomatic signal to the Muslim world, that we recognize your power.
And if Turkey uses this oil power to join the European Union, this will greatly enhance the power of Islam. Turkey is a country with a large and rapidly growing country. It already has a population of 71 million, and like all Muslim countries, it encourages population growth, so that figure will continue to rise fast. And already there are 50 million Muslims living in Europe. If Turkey joins the European Union, that will mean Europe has 121 million Muslim European citizens, free to move anywhere in Western Europe, and start families. And of the total European population, that 121 Muslim million is the fastest growing part of Europe, since European governments have decided that European Christian babies are no longer necessary, but Muslims have decided to continue having families, to increase their power.
So, in this way, due to European weakness on oil and gas, and international power politics, and slow Christian European population growth, and European cultural weakness, Europe will come to be dominated by Muslims, very soon.

It should be very clear to all by now that Western politicians are push-, push-, pushing for Turkey to be accepted into the EU. They talk about averting a clash of civilizations that way. They know damn well that no such clash will be averted. In fact, what is far more likely to happen is this: Conflict and strife, which always accompanies the growth of Islam, will be brought right into the heart of Europe. We are likely to end up with a bloodbath in the form of a civil war.
The Americans have still got the power to hold sway over Europe, and the Americans, especially under Bush, want Turkey in the EU. In general, European politicians are weak anyway. Very weak. They always follow the line of least resistance. So they will have little stomach to resist America's ongoing pressure. If they are to do it, then they had better grow a backbone soon.
The Germans are burdened with a guilt complex for the dreadful way they treated the poor Jews. That Holocaust casts a very long shadow. The result: the Germans are terrified of being perceived as racists.
Schäuble is an exception. Wilders is a Dutchman; and a very courageous one at that. But he is a lone voice in the wilderness over there in Holland. Yes, there are a few more of his followers. But the Dutch government is looking at ways to silence him even as I write this comment.
One of the greatest tragedies for the West, as I stated in my book, 'The Dawning of a New Dark Age', is that Western women have given up having babies. A career and material goods are far more important to Western women today than motherhood. As a result, the West cannot bring enough babies into the world to satisfy the needs of industry and commerce. Consequently, our governments are caving into pressure from unscrupulous people in commerce and industry to bring in cheap labour. Turkey will be such a source.
What businessmen don't factor into the equation is the enormous demographic changes that such mass immigration will inevitably bring about. But then they don't much care, since for the businessman the bottom line is of paramount importance: Profit!
It is we, the people, who will have to pay the high price of all this. The fat cat businessmen, earning their gazillions, will have the means to shelter themselves away from the difficulties that will surely ensue.

"Harvard tries women-only gym hours By MARK PRATT, Associated Press Writer

BOSTON - In a test of Harvard's famed open-mindedness, the university has banned men from one of its gyms for a few hours a week to accommodate Muslim women who say it offends their sense of modesty to exercise in front of the opposite sex.

The policy is already unpopular with many on campus, including some women who consider it sexist.
"I think that it's incorrect in a college setting to institute a policy in which half of the campus gets wronged or denied a resource that's supposed to be for everyone," said student Lucy Caldwell, who also wrote a column in The Harvard Crimson newspaper critical of the new hours.
Student Ola Aljawhary, who is Muslim and works out elsewhere on campus but is not one of the women who requested the change, rejected that argument.
"The majority should be willing to compromise," she said. "I think that's just basic courtesy. We must show tolerance and respect for all others."
The trial policy went into effect Feb. 4, about a month after a group of six Muslim women, with the support of the Harvard College Women's Center, asked the university for the special hours, spokesman Robert Mitchell said.
"We get special requests from religious groups all the time and we try to honor them whenever possible," he said, noting that the school has designated spaces for Muslim and Hindu students to pray.
No men are allowed in the gym between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays, and between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even the staff during those times is all women.
The special hours allow the Muslim women, who adhere to traditional dress codes by covering their hair and most of their skin while in public, to dress more appropriately for exercising, said Susan Marine, director of the women's center.
"It's a pretty big breach of their moral and religious code for a man to see them with their hair uncovered and it's just not possible for them to be in a mixed environment," she said.
When student Kareem Shuman showed up to work out at the gym on Monday, he was turned away but didn't mind.
"Knowing it was requested by women of my faith — it's very understandable to me," said Shuman, 21, who figured he'd just come back later for his workout.
Other men find the new hours inconvenient. Nick Wells, a junior who wrote an opinion piece in the Crimson criticizing the policy, suggested setting aside one room for women.
"It's not that I am opposed to the idea of helping people in religious groups or women in general, but I just think Harvard is not being fair to people like me who live (near the gym)," Wells said in an interview.
The policy only applies to one gym, a facility mainly used for intramurals. Because of its location at the edge of campus, it is the university's least used gym, Mitchell said.
The women-only hours are of minimal inconvenience because they are just six out of the 70 hours a week the gym is open, Marine said.
"Harvard has a moral and ethical responsibility to make sure our students can stay healthy," she said.
An Associated Press reporter who went to the gym Monday did not see any Muslim women entering. Efforts to reach some of the women who requested the policy through the Women's Center were unsuccessful.
The policy will be reviewed at the end of the semester, Mitchell said.
Kent Blumenthal, executive director of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, which has 660 member colleges and universities nationwide, said he could not think of any other institution with a similar policy.
"It seems in some ways contrary to the purpose of campus recreational programs, which is all about access," he said.
Harvard's policy is no different from commercial gyms that cater partially or even exclusively to women, said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations.
"The Muslim bashers portray it as the world coming to end, but if women have a couple hours a week to work out in private, I don't see it as a major issue," he said".

PHILADELPHIA — www.Islamist-Watch.org, the website of the Middle East Forum's Islamist Watch project, is open for business.
Islamist Watch asserts that nonviolent radical Islam is more likely to alter the makeup of Western society over time than is terrorism. For while it is relatively easy to mobilize public opinion against terrorist groups, no institutions exist to counter the demands of non-violent extremists. Lawful Islamists lobby for legislation, influence curriculum and media content, advancing their agenda patiently, through non-violent means, bringing about fundamental changes in society. They also use "lawfare" (aggressive legal maneuvers) to close down academic, media, and political critics.
As a consequence, writes Daniel Pipes: "Quietly, lawfully, peacefully, Islamists do their work throughout the West to impose aspects of Islamic law, win special privileges for themselves, shut down criticism of Islam, create Muslim-only zones, and deprive women and non-Muslims of their full civil rights."
Recent examples of lawful Islamism include:
Leading Muslim students in prayer at a public San Diego elementary school.
Allowing cab drivers in Vancouver, B.C. to refuse certified guide dogs for reasons of religious conviction.
Admonishing doctors and nurses in Scotland to refrain from eating in front of their Muslim patients and colleagues during the month of Ramadan.
Proposing in the Netherlands that people of all faiths refer to God as Allah in order to "create more dialogue."
The Archbishop of Canterbury's arguing that adopting elements of Shari'a law in Britain would benefit social cohesion.
Allowing members of polygamous marriages to claim extra welfare benefits in Britain.
Sponsoring a Muslim lifeguard program for the benefit of private female sessions at the city pool in Mississauga, Canada.
Dropping Knorbert the piglet as mascot of Fortis Bank for fear of offending Muslims.
The website makes an original contribution to the study of lawful Islamism, and expands the project's reach by:
Publishing original and commissioned work on the Islamist push in the West;
Cataloguing, under "Creeping Dhimmitude," examples of the West's misguided efforts to accommodate radical Islam; and
Posting research and updates relative to lawful Islamist organizations.
The website provides news concerning the Middle East Forum's Legal Project, established to protect in courts of law those researchers and analysts working on the topics of terrorism, terrorist funding, and Islamism.
Islamist Watch assistant director John Matthies says that "as radical Islam comes to rely on nonviolent means to impose an agenda and chill discussion, it is necessary to monitor Islamist groups full-time. The website will allow us to report our findings and serve as a resource on Islamist movements."
Middle East Forum director Daniel Pipes adds that "the Islamist Watch website will invite the public to better understand the threat posed by non-violent, political Islam to civil society and the rule of law."
Legal Project director Brooke Goldstein asserts: "The Islamist lawfare challenge poses a serious threat to our democratic freedoms. Should the voices of counter-terrorism researchers and activists be silenced, a real possibility exists that the criticism of radical Islam within our borders will end. The Islamist Watch website compliments our efforts to spread awareness about this threat and to publish updates on our work."
