Brigitte Bardot on trial for Muslim slur

Brigitte Bardot is only saying what the majority of French are saying. Do they have enough courts to prosecute all these millions? Besides, what they're saying is not the fruit of their imagination, it's just facts that even the blinds can't deny.

Nicolas Sarkozy himself called muslims, thugs, during their islamic Intefada in Paris and other French cities, and his tough stand boosted his popularity, and contributed to his election.

It is also worth noting that the French Minister of Justice, Rachida Dati, is a muslim.

Bardot has previously said France is being invaded by sheep-slaughtering Muslims and published a book attacking immigrants and the unemployed, in which she also lamented the "Islamisation of France".

PARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.

"I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its acts," the star of 'And God created woman' and 'Contempt' said.

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.

Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding: "I am a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot."

Bardot did not attend the trial because she said she was physically unable to. The verdict is expected in several weeks.

If Hitler had applied for Religious status under the prevailing laws of the time, and had been recognized officially as a RELIGION, then today the Nazis could sue IBN for telling the truth on a Religion - and you and everybody. So it will soon be - but what is funny about all of this, is that we in the west are totally free to slander any religion whatsoever, except for those Religions that say that every word in the Koran which approves of the cold-blooded murder of innocent people. Strange is the path of Oil Money Bribes - who will help Ibn tell this horrible truth?

Pretty pathetic that you can get fined for telling the truth and speaking your mind in France.

What the hell has happened to Europe? Should we already label it "Eurabia" for good?

I would love to hear what the Imam's preach in the French-Muslim Mosques. I would be willng to bet that not a one of them have been charged with "inciting racial hatred".

Oh, and that's another thing that angers me to no end.....ISLAM IS NOT A RACE!!!!!

Two Films About Religion: Is Only One Accurate?
Glen Reinsford

By now, most people have heard of Geert Wilders’ 17-minute film, Fitna, which has predictably outraged the Muslim world by mixing scenes of Islamic terror and oppression with verses from the Koran appearing to support the mistreatment of those outside the religion. The well-publicized death threats against the producers and providers undoubtedly prompted many who would not otherwise have been interested into watching the video over the Internet.

The reaction to Fitna in the Islamic world has been somewhat muted compared to the cartoon protests of two years ago, in which more than 100 people, including a Catholic priest www.hyscience.com/archives/2006/02/catholic_priest.php were killed in the riots and targeted assassinations that followed the printing of Muhammad’s image by a Danish newspaper. Later in 2006, another series of Muslim riots – ironically over the Pope’s suggestion that Islam has a violence problem – left more people dead, including an elderly nun who was shot in the back by a Muslim devotee while working at a children’s hospital. michellemalkin.com/2006/09/17/sister-leonella-sgorbati-rip/

The reason for better manners this time around may be the gradual realization that Islam’s image suffers when the point of its critics is proven by Muslims childishly acting out over cartoons, or amassing a stack of dead bodies in defense of the “religion of peace.” (That such outrage is conspicuously absent when terrorists kill innocents explicitly in the name of Islam hardly speaks well of the religion’s priorities).

On the heels of the effigy burnings and angry demonstrations over Fitna, however, comes one of the more admirable protests against the film – a slightly shorter video parody that is entitled Schism.

Like Fitna, Schism mixes scenes of violence with verses from a religious text – in this case, the Bible. Allegedly created by a lone Saudi blogger, there appear to be two versions of the video. The earlier one is six minutes long and features four verses from the Old Testament intermingled with footage from Iraq and scenes that appear to be “borrowed” from an American film called Jesus Camp, in which fundamentalist Christians exhort children to a somewhat extreme-sounding religious commitment.

Perhaps because of copyright issues, a longer and better-produced version of Schism quickly followed. Gone were the Old Testament passages and the Jesus Camp clips. Instead, the new nine minute video includes only three New Testament verses and a hodge-podge of newsreel snippets from Nazi Germany to Srebrenica. If the two versions were indeed produced by the same person, then it would appear that they received a good deal of assistance with the second piece.

On the surface, it might appear that Schism is anti-Christian propaganda, but this is not the intent of the producers. In fact, by its own admission, the video is “crap” that is not meant to be taken literally. In addition, the trailing disclaimer also states that the purpose of the video is to prove the point that “it’s easy to take some pictures and verses to try and make people think [there is] a connection to religion.”

And there is no doubt that Schism does exactly that. The scenes of Western violence in the movie generally have nothing to do with Christianity or any other religion. The footage of Nazi soldiers taking an oath “in the name of God,” for example, obscures the fact that it is not an oath to God but rather to Hitler (The oath goes on to say “I shall render unconditional obedience to the Fuhrer of the German Reich” – which is hardly the stuff of New Testament teaching).

The video clips from the Northern Ireland conflict are certainly powerful (even if fewer civilians lost their lives over the 36-year span of that war than were murdered in less than two hours on 9/11), but the true basis of contention between the factions wasn’t theology, but Irish nationalism. No one was fighting to convert or punish over matters of religion.

Bosnia also appears in Schism, but it too is an example of a political conflict. While the mujahideen terror campaign of the early 1990s may have indeed been motivated by Islamic goals, there is no evidence that the Serbian response was in any way religious. It is the same with the war in Iraq, at least from the standpoint of the West. Despite the implications of Schism’s video clips (one of which shows a mosque damaged by an American bomb – sans the pertinent detail that it was bristling with snipers at the time) the U.S. and European governments are secular, as are the strategic goals in Iraq.

The KKK also makes an appearance in Schism, but surely the producers are aware that it is a white supremacist organization. Race and religion are separate issues. (As it is, the nearly defunct Klan has murdered fewer people in the last 50 years than Islamic terrorists do every five hours).

Given that Schism is self-admitted propaganda against Fitna (rather than Christianity, as it is often mistakenly identified), the real question is whether or not the producers accomplish the goal of discrediting Wilders’ film. Proving that sacred verses can be taken out of context and mixed with violent images to project a false association is not the same thing as proving that Fitna actually does this as well.

In Fitna’s case, the violence shown is clearly motivated by religion, at least according to the perpetrators. When Muhammad Atta and his 9/11 cadres slammed planes into buildings, for example, they did so shouting praises to Allah. Neither did London subway bomber, Sadique Khan, leave any doubt as to his guiding precept. According to his farewell video: “Our religion is Islam – obedience to the one true God, Allah, and following the footsteps of the final prophet and messenger Muhammad... This is how our ethical stances are dictated.”

And, unlike the Western governments working to protect Iraqis, al Qaeda is not a secular organization by any stretch. The late Abu Musab al-Zarqawi explained why his Sunni group kills Shiites and others: “There is no doubt that Allah commanded us to strike the Kuffar (unbelievers), kill them, and fight them by all means necessary.” Neither does Abu Deraa, one of the most sadistic Shia terrorists in Iraq, have anyone guessing about what compels him: “My motivation is a sense of duty toward my religious faith to fight against any hostile enemy of Islam.”

In fact, nearly all Islamic terrorists on record explicitly credit religion as their justification, which sharply distinguishes the violence of Fitna from the violence of Schism, thus discrediting the latter’s attempt to draw a parallel in this respect.

But what of the assertion that Wilders is taking verses from the Koran out of context?

Unfortunately, context is not as straightforward when it comes to the Koran. When Schism admits to pulling Bible verses out of context, for example, it is quite easy to verify this simply by looking up the original passages. 1st Samuel 15:3, Numbers 31:17-18 and Deuteronomy 20:16 all refer explicitly to historical encounters between the ancient Israelites and the Amalekites, Midianites, and Hittites respectively… in other words, obscure tribes that are no longer around to fear Biblical literalists.

On the other hand, the targets of violence found in the three relevant Koranic verses quoted by Wilders in Fitna are arguably much closer to home:

Qur’an 47:4 – “Therefore, when ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks and when ye have caused a bloodbath among them, bring a bond firmly on them.”
Qur’an 8:60 – “Prepare for them whatever force and cavalry ye are able of gathering to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies.”
Qur’an 8:39 – “Fight them until there is no dissension and the religion is entirely Allah's.”

So, who are “enemies,” “unbelievers” and “dissenters?” Unfortunately, the answer is subjective at best. Many parts of the Koran rail specifically against Jews, Christians, polytheists and pretty much anyone who denies that Muhammad is a prophet of God, which includes most people living in the world today.

It is no wonder then why Islam is unique in that there are tens of thousands of Muslims dedicated to mass murder in the name of their religion while tens of millions more shout encouragement from the sidelines. (Ironically, one of the Jesus Camp quotes in the earlier version of Schism that is intended to make Christian fundamentalists appear radical is when one preacher says that Christians should act more like Muslims).

But, of course, there are plenty of peaceful Muslims and (even though the Koran is supposed to be the literal, ever-relevant word of Allah) many of them prefer to believe that the verses of violence are tempered by historical context. After all, a violent interpretation of the New Testament quotes found in the second version of Schism (such as Matthew 10:34, in which Jesus says that he has “not come to bring peace, but a sword”) is certainly not supported by either the life of Jesus or his disciples, all of whom peacefully laid down their lives to enemies. answering-islam.org/Authors/Arlandson/sword.htm ; www.answering-islam.org/Authors/Arlandson/luke_22_36.htm

Once again, however, the facts are quite different when it comes to Islam. In this case, the contrast between the life of Jesus and that of Muhammad could hardly be sharper. One never hurt anyone, preached love for all people and lived a life of moral restraint, while the other (according Muslim historians) ordered the assassination of enemies www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-murder.htm and the beheading of captives www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-qurayza.htm , preached Allah’s intense hatred for unbelievers www.thereligionofpeace.com/Pages/Quran-Hate.htm , and spent his latter years wallowing in wives www.thereligionofpeace.com/Quran/025-Muhammads-sex-life.htm , sex slaves www.thereligionofpeace.com/Quran/015-slavery.htm and wealth stolen in battle. www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-self-defense.htm

As for the historical context of the verses that Wilders’ specifically quotes from the Koran, the passage from chapter 47 was “revealed” at a time when the Muslims had just settled in Medina as invited guests and were not being threatened by anyone www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-raid-caravans.htm Instead, they were raiding merchant caravans at Muhammad’s behest and killing drivers who defended their goods.

Neither was there any real persecution of Muslims taking place when chapter 8 was first narrated following the Battle of Badr. In fact, Muhammad had deliberately forced the battle on a reluctant Meccan army sent out merely to guard the city’s caravans against his own deadly raids! www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-badr.htm

In the final analysis, Schism deserves credit as an intelligent and welcome departure from the normal venue of Islamic protest, in which objects are often burned, broken or beheaded, but the video is most effective when viewed from a distance, since it fails to make its case under scrutiny. Unlike the games played with Iraqi war footage in Schism, for example, the association between Islam and the violence of Fitna is made not by Wilders but by the terrorists themselves. It also turns out that the context of the Koranic verses quoted in the film present far more of a challenge to Islam’s moderates rather than its radicals.

Although the producers of Schism did not intend to make anti-Christian propaganda, and are perhaps sincere in their stated commitment to “make the world a better place,” it is unfortunate that they have chosen to make their point by producing a video that will undoubtedly be used as a recruitment tool for suicide bombers and Mujahideen, since it so closely resembles the propaganda that already exists.

Stripped of its trailing disclaimer (and it will be), Schism will fuel the paranoia of the Muslim world that there is a “Crusader-Zionist” conspiracy against it, in turn leading to more violence. The tragic consequences of the video may indeed by the most dramatic refutation of its underlying thesis of equivalency with Fitna.

Rather than targeting the politically-correct West with a video that satisfies a requirement for moral correlation between Islam and Christianity, even as it justifies Islamic terrorism in the minds of many Muslims, the producers would have made better progress toward their purported goal of improving the planet by challenging the hatred and religious bigotry that is the true source of tension between Islam and the rest of the world.
